Emma

As a final year student studying Commerce Emma has quite a hectic schedule. Yet she manages to give up much of her free time to the Irish Guide Dogs in Galway. Emma has volunteered with the Irish Guide Dogs for a number of years. This charity is one that is close to her heart. This passion was influenced by her Grandfathers involvement as Chairperson of the Galway branch.

Emma’s role with the charity includes managing the facebook page and fundraising around Galway which includes raffles, quizzes, selling calendars and cards at Christmas. Emma says “anything that’s on I will always help out”. Emma says that the positives of volunteering are getting to help people all the time especially the blind which the guide dog is essential in their daily lives and children with Autism who the Irish Guide Dogs provide assistance dogs to.

Emma adds that if “it’s something that you are passionate about giving up some of your time doesn’t matter because you are enjoying it so much”. She said she would definitely recommend volunteering to anyone. She added “pick a charity that means something to you, something you have passion for”.
