ALIVE Case Studies

Meet Adrian, a postgrauate student with the Masters in Health Economics actively volunteering with an International organisation in India.

"I volunteered in India in the second year of my Bachelor of Commerce. I spent the summer teaching English, maths, gymnastics, music and dance with two other NUI Galway students.  In the mornings I was volunteering with a group of children in a primary school, afternoons in a HIV and AIDS centre and evenings with children who were previously child labourers."

Meet Mary, a 2nd Arts student active in societies and fundraising for charity.

"This year I was involved with The Presidents Award Society and The Organic Garden Society, which was a great way to meet new people especially from other colleges. The best and most rewarding advantage of being part of a society, club or volunteering, is that you meet people from all walks of life!"

Meet Mark, a 4th Civil Engineer who volunteered with Ability West and Habitat for Humanity.

“There’s nothing particularly hard. It’s only four hours every few weeks which is a ridiculously small amount of time when you consider all the time you spend sleeping in …”
